Maschine MK2 First Impressions

So, we took delivery of the new Maschine MK2’s, and instantly we unboxed one for myself to demo in store. Straight away the differences were noticeable. It is slightly heavier, with much smoother touching pads, and i don’t mean the sensitivity, i mean when you touch them they actually feel smooth allowing your finger to slide off (great for finger drumming).

Also apart from the different colours, the other major thing for me was the new screens. These are fantastic and you can see everything from whatever angle. This is massive for me!

Plus once firing up the software and even connecting the controller it seems to respond much much quicker – its rapid! Every button touch and knob turn just seems to be extremely quick in comparison to the MK1’s. This obviously helps with the sensitivity on the pads too making them feel much tighter.

Overall us Maschine users have had the chance to play with 1.8 already so I wont go into that, but the controller matches the improvements in the software and is definitely worth a paid upgrade for the hardware in my eyes.

Traktor ‘Remixed’ Workshop @ Soundware Newcastle

So, on Saturday 29th September, I will be showcasing the new Kontrol F1 and the new Remix Decks @ Soundware Newcastle. So if you are in the area around 2pm simply drop in – it’s FREE!

If you haven’t really took notice of these new controllers and what the Remix Decks could do for you, then pop along and you can start to understand the need for a Remix Deck, what a Remix Set is, and how these new controllers can help improve your DJ performance as a whole.

Even if you are not a DJ, but more a Producer/Performer, then you should still drop in and see how Traktor can be used like Ableton Live in ways of performing your tracks to your next audience…

Also the NEW Maschine Mk2 will be previewed showing you how to produce and export your own Remix Sets when using Maschine.

If you are looking for something to take your performance to the next level, then just come along to our store for a demonstration and ask any questions you feel the need to ask. I will be on hand to answer all questions.

New additions to my home studio: Genelec 8020Bs

Nice and compact addition to my now nice and compact home studio. It may look minimal but it has a lot of software horsepower.

The Genelecs sound amazing and are simply one of the best sounding monitor speakers i have ever heard and i have heard a few. Highly recommended for near field monitoring and mixing.
